Crazy story, a few years ago our owner, Alicia, who works as a stylist behind the chair was struggling with psoriatic arthritis symptoms and was told that she should consider not doing hair! If you know Alicia then you know this was devastating, but you also may know that she is an avid learner and dug into learning about possible causes and treatments for this. In her studies, she found an article that said that an ingredient in hair color most commonly linked to potential issues like psoriatic arthritis in hairstylists is paraphenylenediamine (PPD), which is a chemical found in many permanent hair dyes and is known to cause allergic reactions in some people, including skin irritation and inflammation. PPD is the primary culprit behind most allergic reactions to hair dye, often causing contact dermatitis on the scalp and skin. With this knowledge she decided to switch all haircolor and products to those that were free of PPD, and years later is able to still do hair with no flare ups. This just is one example of how we at Zodiac Spa are willing to look into ways to not only keep our stylists healthy, but also our customers, by researching ingredients and offering products that are the best for you. 

With our haircolor services we are a Goldwell salon and use Goldwell Topchic, Goldwell Colorance, Goldwell Elumen as well as Danger Jones gloss toners and fashion colors. For our haircare and backbar use products we have a range of products from a plant based stem cell line from Canada called Hair Phix, but also Goldwell, KMS, Kerasilk, and Actiiv for thinning hair.

If you're looking to rejuvenate your hair with a new style, color, or extensions, our stylists tailor a solution to suit your preferences and hair type, whether straight or curly, and if needed will collaborate with other stylists there to formulate the best possible outcome or refer you to one of the stylists who specializes in that style. 

Our stylists love education which is one thing that has grown our service menu so much because we do work with our clients, who become friends, through all the stages of life. So if you are wanting to add a little more length or thickness with hair extensions we can do that with one of our wefts of Zodiac Hair Extensions, or if you are thinning and not a great candidate for hair extensions, we can look into if the Alma TED service would be a better fit for you to grow some thicker and stronger hair. Not only do we have our own hair extension line, but we also have our very own brush that we designed! We love THE BRUSH, for it's contour, easy no snag handle, gentle detangling, and smoothing bristles for a healthy brushing and quick drying experience.
